Let’s get the formalities out of the way – First, how the heck is it December already? Where did this year go? It is mind-blowing that it’s already December. Second, I’ve been a bad mama blogger and completely dropped the ball on publishing my little month-to-month Joey updates – and life updates in general, to be honest. So today, we’ll be getting to that a little bit.
Joey Months 8-11
Where do I even begin? He surprises me every day and keeps us all on our toes with his wild, full of energy personality. He both makes me so, so proud with each little milestone and also breaks my mama heart because he is growing way too dang fast, friends. Way too fast! Let’s go through his little summary so you can see how much has changed since I did the last one of these in August!
Nicknames: Still a lot of the same good ol’ Jojo and Joey Bear with a little mix of “our little puffaholic” thrown in there (more in this later).
Likes: He still thinks it’s hilarious whenever Pudge or Pange sneeze – big ol’ laughs and tons of giggles. Trevor, a husky stuffed toy that my MIL sent him, has become a crowd favorite (even if he lost an eye and is now Trevor the Pirate Dog). Joey loves any and all toys that play music and sing – he’ll play endlessly with them and dance to their music. He also loves to steal my mom’s yarn and pull it, throw it, and just generally make a mess of it hehe. Puffs a big winner in this house and hence the puffaholic nickname ;]
Dislikes: When it comes to bottle time, mama is still the winner but dinner time or any time we feed him food? Dada all the way. Shoes are big, big dislike and he’ll work tirelessly until he gets them off.
Milestones: Since the last update Joey went from being close to crawling to crawling and standing in the same week, to furniture cruising, to taking his first unassisted step on October 29, to now full on walking. And the kid is FAST. Look away for one second and he’ll be clear across the room, moving onto the next room.
Joey had his first vacation – a family reunion in no other than Las Vegas. There he got to meet pretty much the entire dad side of the family. During this trip he also got his first two teeth and since then has grown four more for a grand total of six teeth – two on the bottom, four on top, with one more working its way on the bottom.
Last but not least, we’re full into eating now – a combo between baby foods and baby-led weaning with “adult” foods on his tray. Some of his favorites include peas, crackers, squash, chicken noodle, mac n’ cheese, and noodles. A big, big milestone that occurred in October was finally being cleared from his blood pressure issues so more medication for this little guy, whoop whoop!
Weight/Height: At last check he was 17lbs and 28in but this was a couple of months ago – we won’t have another check until we get back from Christmas vacation in mid-January but overall, he’s kept the trend of tall and skinny like his dad haha.
Sleep: He’s still really good at sleeping through the night, with for random 4am wakes up here and there. There no more morning or evening nap, but thank goodness we still get a solid 1.5-3 hours nap in the middle of the day – otherwise nothing would get done around here, friends. NOTHING.
Random Tidbits: He has a full head of hair now and welp, it’s starting to curl at the ends in these cute little curls and I almost can’t handle how cure they are. Joey is so, so smart – almost too smart for his own good. He’ll watch you do something once and then immediately try his hand at it and more often than not, succeed. His laugh is one of the best sounds in the world – and so dang contagious. The best part is that he is such a happy baby – it doesn’t take much to hear his laugh!
Over the last few months I’ve kind of sucked at this whole lifestyle category of my blog and I’ll be honest, it felt off. I will still have a large focus on all things design, social media, blogging, and business but I’ll be sprinkling a little more life into this blog again. This will come in the shape of monthly check-ins and book talk – I’m so excited to get back into a little bit more of that stuff 🙂
