This is one post that has been a long time coming… Joey’s only what, 21 (almost 22!) months old? But I’m finally sharing the reveal for his colorful nursery room!
As much as I’d like to think of this as his first room, that’s actually not true. We moved houses (from off-post to on-post in Fort Bliss) sometime around July of last year. Truth is, I never got around the finishing his first room. For shame, I know but between Joey being born early and how sick he was the first few months of his life, plus the fact that he slept in the crib in our room the entire time we lived there, it just didn’t happen.
So when we moved to this house, I was on a mission. I’d finish Joey’s nursery! And finish it I did… just in time for the announcement of Baby #2 and our move to Germany, hah!
Truth be told when I was pregnant I thought up themes for the nursery and pinned my little life away. However, when it came down to it, I ended up going with no theme aside from loosely following a color scheme of sorts and thinking “Happy Boy room” the entire time.
The few things I wanted to make sure of were that the room felt cozy, not overly / in your face BOY ROOM, and that it had some personal / unique touches.
The unique touches came in the form of handmade / DYIed elements such as the felt balls garland and hexagon shelf. Additionally, the “Dream Big” print, while available in my Etsy Shop, I originally designed it for Joey and his room specifically – adding it to the shop was a second thought.
And we can’t forget the DIY Growth Chart Ruler! Seriously one of my favorite details in Joey’s room and I cannot wait to add hash marks for baby brother’s growth once he gets here!
I’m so glad I got some pictures of Joey’s first real room! I love, love this space and will treasure it forever. There’s honestly a “favorite” thing on each wall! I’m a little sad thinking about leaving this little space behind once we move to Germany.
